AtoB@C Shipping unveils the names of first six hybrid vessels

MARCH 10, 2023

AtoB@C Shipping, a subsidiary of ESL Shipping, has ordered 12 new hybrid vessels for delivery in 2023-2026. GoTa Ship Management continues as AtoB@C Shipping's long-term partner by assuming the full ship management of these vessels. Having all AtoB@C Shipping’s owned vessels under the same management supports the group’s plans to build a large pool of competent seafarers capable of working across the group’s vessels and to ensure that all seafarers can build and advance their careers within the ESL Shipping Group.

Ahead of the delivery of the first highly energy-efficient plug-in hybrid vessel in the third quarter of this year, AtoB@C Shipping recently unveiled the names of the first six vessels. The first vessel will be named Electramar, which provides a fitting reference to the vessel's hybrid propulsion, battery pack, and shore power connectivity. The second vessel, slated for delivery at the end of the year, will be named Stellamar.

"Chosen names reflect the environmental friendliness of the vessels and AtoB@C Shipping’s established tradition to name vessels with the -mar suffix,” says Frida Rowland, Corporate Business Development Director at AtoB@C Shipping.
The names of the first six vessels in the order of construction are:
  • Electramar
  • Stellamar
  • Ecomar
  • Aquamar
  • Maximar
  • Terramar
The names are based on the naming competition arranged for the group’s personnel earlier last year. AtoB@C Shipping will reveal the names of the next six vessels at a later stage.

ESL Shipping is the leading carrier of dry bulk cargoes in the Baltic Sea region. ESL Shipping’s competitive edge is based on its ability to secure product and raw material transportation for industries and energy production all year around, even in difficult weather conditions. A subsidiary of Aspo Plc., ESL Shipping Ltd. has been in business for more than 70 years and has been a partner of Philippine Transmarine Carriers (PTC) Inc. since 2012.
